The Mission

This year we were able to support 16 schools and over 950 school children. We were able to provide rucksacks (containing tracksuit, hat, gloves, socks, towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, notebooks, pens, pencils, rubbers and a geometry set) to over 350 children. To the schools we were able to provide textbooks, dictionaries, song books, footballs, basketballs, pumps, educational posters, chalk and flags. The schools varied hugely in size, ranging from just 11 pupils to over 150 and thus all items were distributed accordingly. The four days were certainly a challenge, with some of the roads being barely passable, even with four-by-fours and several of the school teachers had to come and visit us at another school due to the quality of the road conditions. This being the case, it is hardly surprising that for one school in particular, our arrival was the first time they had seen ´gringos´. A concerted effort was also made to gather as much information as possible on the schools and the school children, in order to facilitate the ability of future expeditions to provide effective support for the region. Finally, we would like to thank Fabiola from Tupiza Tours who was invaluable in her assisstance in making our mission a success!
